Tuesday night I had the great pleasure of reading a new play by Lisa Kohn at the Lark play development center. I had a wonderful time and am grateful to both Lisa and Isaac Byrne for the invite. I was thrilled to read Lisa’s play in the company of several talented actors, a few friends included! The play is a delightful twist of complicated second chances and dreams gone awry; I’m looking forward to playing around with the characters on our feet at some point. Thanks to the Lark and the delightful women who provided the space and helpful discussion!

Grundy Sings!

I was excited when Mattson Tomlin called me and asked if I’d be game to sing in the film we’re shooting this August. My character singing in a nightclub scene, …an original song? The answer was “yes!” A no brainer. We met last week with the very talented composer, Andrew Fox and had a great time getting a feel for his creation. I’m looking forward to getting my hands on the music and continuing the work with Andrew and the musicians. Thanks Mattson, for writing this into your script!

Henry Fernaine (one of the producers of last year’s nominated film, “Revolutionary Road” with Kate Winslet and Leonardo Dicaprio) is producing a project I’m in, called “Solomon Grundy.” Henry is a mentor to the young and talented director, Mattson Tomlin. We have only 12 days left to make it to our goal of $10,000. We are almost there, but we need your help! Granted, this isn’t a charitable donation, but a very cool opportunity to help make 7 short films which will serve as episodes in the life of Solomon Grundy, a fictional character in Jimmy’s imagination (based upon the old nursery rhyme.) I play, Julie – the love interest Mattson has already been accepted to film festivals with our first short. Take a look, I would be so grateful and honored to have your support!

“Le Fou” – reading

Come see a reading of “Le Fou,” a play by the talented Bekah Brunstetter. Isaac Byrne, one of my favorite directors called me in to play Aurelie, a hopeful and simultaneously hopeless creature who cherishes love. She finds the courage (or audacity) to take a huge leap for love (and in spite of love) in the bottom of a few glasses of vodka and the handsome nose of a painter.

This play is witty, ironic and touching; you will giggle through to the end. If you’re familiar with the paintings of John Singer Sargent or at the very least the scandal of “Madame X” you will love this play. If you aren’t familiar, you will love the play as it is yet another wonderful piece by Bekah Brunstetter!

BMI music presentation

Yesterday I had the exciting opportunity to present a new song at BMI titled, “The People Will Rise” – Lyrics by Adam Mathias and Music by Oran Eldor. It was a fabulous to work with Oran again and to meet and work with Adam for the first time. What a number! One of those great rousing pieces that gather the entire company and pit the ‘good guys’ against the ‘bad guys.’ The other singers and actors were amazingly talented – it was an inspiring evening! I also enjoyed hearing new works by other lyricists and composers. A very thought-provoking and motivating group of artists. I woke up hearing the wonderful melodies in my head this morning. I’m sure I’ll be singing this great tune for days!

Comedic Web Series

I had the pleasure of working with 2020 Pictures and Princeton Partners on a new comedic web-series which I will refer to now as “the mysterious bug project.” The series will launch April 22nd with good laughs and plenty of awkward situations. This was a hoot to shoot!

Director, Andrew Geller knows how to find the humanity in a scene and bring out the hilarity of a character’s plight. Craig Knowlton, director, has timing on the nose and brings funny with work that seems all too fun. Scott Knowlton, a great producer was also a pleasure to work with, and Andrew White, a talented, precise, and artistic DP is someone you want on your set!

"Solomon Grundy" short film

I had an amazing time working with the young and gifted Mattson Tomlin, writer and director of “Solomon Grundy.” He is entirely motivated, supremely gifted, and clearly concise with his time, talent and vision.

Mattson is raising money to produce seven short films based on the mysterious poem, “Solomon Grundy.” My description and explanation will, no doubt, fall short so please visit the kickstarter page for more info! $10K by April 1 and these shorts will be like nothing you’ve seen from a 19-year-old director. Watch out – this kid is going places! I’m very honored to be on board.

Howe & Hummel ..a new musical

Monday Dec. 14th, 2009….I’ll be honored to join in the developmental reading of a new musical called “Howe & Hummel” at Theatre Row Studios.

The play takes place in the 1890’s when crime ruled in the tenderloin of New York City. I play various ‘dime-a-dance’ girls and street-wise urchins. I’m thrilled to work with the following industry talents… (!!)

She asks a simple question, a brawl ensues, he saves the day, and they make a date. Solomon Grundy lives on as the tough alter-ego…
