TV pilot – “Mommies Night Out”

MNO_flyer_5x7MakenzieCaineBack in June I had the extreme pleasure of performing a staged reading of an absolutely wonderful pilot.  When I say perform, I mean it – the only thing close to a true reading was the presence of a script.  This piece, from top to bottom was glossed in Chanel and standing on two perfectly toned legs securely beveled in Jimmy Choo shoes.  Isaac Byrne directed (I absolutely LOVE working with him – he’s an actor’s director…amazing), Bekah Brunstetter adapted the pilot for stage, Henry N. Jackson (TALENTed clothing designer, beautiful soul) costumed, and sister duo Alixx & Alyssa Schottland wrote the 13-episode pilot, produced the read and Alixx was a glowing-star as the main character.  In addition to Alixx, Glory Gallo has become a favorite fellow actor; when she takes stage, everyone listens.

I have done a lot of crap theatre in New York – readings, workshops, fringe, you name it.  This show is a jewel (so far above and beyond much of the work out there) and I hope I can stay along for the ride as I’m sure there’s a future for “Mommies in Manhattan.”  My character was a coke-addicted, upper-east side brat with a ‘manny’ and a two year old.  The writer and the director both took me aside and said I was the only actor who ‘got’ the coke thing.  Funny, I said – as I have never even smoked a cigarette.  Oh acting – I love it!  If you’re interested in learning more or requesting a script, please visit MommyInManhattan.com.
